Microorganisms Associated with Mosquito Oviposition Sites: Implications for Habitat Selection and Insect Life Histories

چکیده
Mosquitoes are considered one of the most important threats worldwide due to their ability vector pathogens. They responsible for transmission major pathogens such as malaria, dengue, zika, or chikungunya. Due lack treatments prophylaxis against many transmitted and an increasing prevalence mosquito resistance insecticides drugs available, alternative strategies now being explored. Some these involve use microorganisms promising agent limit fitness mosquitoes, attract repel them, decrease replication pathogenic agents. In recent years, importance colonizing habitat mosquitoes has particularly been investigated since they appeared play roles in development diseases transmission. this issue, we will synthesize researches investigating how present within water habitats may influence breeding site selection oviposition gravid females. We also highlight impact microbes on fate females’ progeny during immature stages with a specific focus egg hatching, rate, larvae pupae survival.

Dual-treatment autodissemination station with enhanced transfer of an insect growth regulator to mosquito oviposition sites.
BACKGROUND The Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus (Skuse), transmits important arboviral diseases and displaces native species. This peridomestic mosquito deposits eggs in natural and artificial containers. Container larval habitats tend to be cryptic and, therefore, difficult to reach by conventional insecticide treatments. We have developed an autodissemination station that transfers the ...
متن کاملChemosensory Cues for Mosquito Oviposition Site Selection.
Gravid mosquitoes use chemosensory (olfactory, gustatory, or both) cues to select oviposition sites suitable for their offspring. In nature, these cues originate from plant infusions, microbes, mosquito immature stages, and predators. While attractants and stimulants are cues that could show the availability of food (plant infusions and microbes) and suitable conditions (the presence of conspec...
متن کاملAn autodissemination station for the transfer of an insect growth regulator to mosquito oviposition sites
A prototype autodissemination station to topically contaminate oviposition-seeking container-dwelling mosquitoes with the insect growth regulator, pyriproxyfen, was developed and tested in the laboratory. Our test subject was the Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus (Skuse) (Diptera: Culicidae), an urban species that colonizes small-volume cryptic larval habitats and is a skip ovipositor that...
